Sex, love, and romance are magical experiences--maybe a little too much so for a wizard unaware and his shape-shifting tomcat familiar.

T.J. Jones never believed in love. He's a tomcat--literally--and he's had problems in the past with one-night stands involving men who are horrified to find out what he is. He's been burned one too many times, so he decides he'll settle for becoming a grouchy, lifelong bastard of a bachelor. Of course, that's before he runs into MacGowan, a smoking hot beach boy with the sweetest smile.

MacGowan, a ingenuous, open-hearted sex bomb, wants T.J.'s body, his love, his friendship, and his trust. T.J. doesn't dare tell MacGowan that he's a tomcat on the inside, but soon finds he has no choice when MacGowan's developing wizard's powers force the issue. Not only is he unwittingly MacGowan's familiar, but MacGowan's powers make him unable to control his shape-shifting.

Publisher's Note This book contains explicit sexual content and includes anal play/intercourse and male/male sexual practices.

Rating: 4/10

PROS:
- There are details in the fantasy world that I found pretty adorable. How can you avoid being at least somewhat charmed by a story that contains phrases like “enchanted parasites”?
- The way TJ struggles to control his shifting and purrs or meows at inopportune moments is amusing. And the scenes in which he’s in feline form and functioning with the mind of a cat are cute. I liked the references to “his human,” the matter-of-fact arrogance, the self-importance. There’s a lot here that I think people who are familiar with cats will appreciate.
- Occasionally, the characters’ sarcasm made me chuckle. (see cons below also)

CONS:
- I was a little disinterested in the story because I found the characters’ behavior off-putting at times. They are hurtful and immature and self-pitying by turns.
- There were a lot of times when I had to pause in my reading because a sentence didn’t make sense or seemed as though it had come out of nowhere. The writing felt disjointed to me, and maybe that was intentional--an emulation of the magical qualities of its characters, perhaps--but it often left me blinking, trying to figure out what had just happened.
- I found the sex gratuitous. The guys seem always to be finding excuses to be naughty when they should be having rather important conversations instead.
- I like a bit of sarcasm. But it’s non-stop (in certain scenes) here, and I wanted the characters to slow down and just be real for a minute, rather than focusing so much on being smart alecky and clever.

Overall comments: I was intrigued by the plot, but I couldn’t connect with the characters as much as I wanted to. And I didn’t understand WHY…why the Big Misunderstanding, why the guys stay apart so long, why they are able to patch things up again so quickly. The story really fell flat for me.

Will it was a good read . And i like the story line and the action init . Could,nt put it down .
I must admit this story made me both laugh and cry... I loved the two friends that thought they needed to protect their best friend's reputations. There is just so much I want to know especially about the secondary characters. I want to know what happened in Sur Lune's past that trapped him in cat form and if being Mr Jontan's familiar will bring back his human side because even though he was an ass I think underneath there is something good hiding. I need to know if Arden and Shavey are still together and what mishaps occur as MacGowan's powers grow as his relationship with TJ progresses... I need a sequel.
Thomas Cattrell Jones, otherwise known as T.J., leads a fairly simple life. He teaches at the local college when their budget permits and has the very best of friends in Arden and Mr. Jontan. Oh, one other little thing - when he feels the urge T.J. can turn into a tabby cat.

MacGowan Smith has just moved into a new apartment complex hoping that the change in scenery will further eradicate memories of a love affair gone south. His best friend Shavey lives nearby, which is another benefit of the relocation.

When T.J. and MacGowan accidentally meet at the local grocery store it is lust at first sight. There's no way, however, that T.J. is going to tell a potential bed buddy that he can go furry at the drop of a hat. But, when inexplicable things happen every time they get together it's becoming harder to keep the secret. A special bond exists between T.J. and MacGowan, yet T.J. fears the truth will destroy what they have. Fate has a way, however, of spilling secrets whether you want them out or not.

Witty dialogue and hot lovemaking are just part of the entertainment found in Tomcat Jones. Hilarious antics will have readers laughing out loud, yet there are also poignant moments to balance out the story. The fast paced, snappy dialogue is great, but sometimes overwhelms the plot because there is so much back and forth talk. Having said that, just make sure you keep up with the conversation. Tomcat Jones is seriously funny.

Tomcat Jones T.J. Jones and his best friend are in the grocery store stocking up on junk food when his basket crashes into McGowan Smith. The minute their eyes meet, there is an instant attraction so strong that T.J. is speechless and McGowan's smile ramps up to blinding when he realizes this is his new neighbor. T.J, who does not believe in love, mainly because his dates have run away screaming when they discovered T.J. shifted into a cat, was starting to feel a glimmer of hope. McGowan, who also has a bad track record in the love department, immediately feels that T.J. is "The One" he has been waiting for. Rapidly falling in love with each other and engaging in explosive lovemaking when all too soon, the truth is revealed when McGowan, an untrained wizard, loses control of his emotions and his magic causes T.J. to shift into a cat in front of him.

Tomcat Jones is an outstanding and hilarious piece of fiction. McGowan is a lovable and easy-going guy who is clueless about being an undeveloped wizard, nor does he realize that T.J. is his familiar until the reality of strange happenings reveals the magic surrounding him and T.J. Although T.J. is used to wizards, he is taken by surprise when he discovers McGowan has magic. The amazing Willa Okati has created a well written, well paced marvelous tale with emotions that moved me from laughter to tears. The characters are vibrant in addition to being poignant, the intimate scenes are volatile. Tomcat Jones is a spectacular story that I absolutely enjoyed and recommend.
